The Fish
The waters that surround the Seychelles islands are home to several types of fishing because of the vast differences in the underwater landscapes of the region. Some fish favor the shallow island edges; others are the bright fish of the coral reefs. There are also the large sport fish of the deeper waters that sportsmen travel from around the world to capture.

- Yellowfin Tuna – A very powerful fighting fish that weights between 30 – 225 lbs.
- Sailfish – Known to be one of the fastest fish in the sea, reaching a speeds of 60 mph + and weights between 30- 140 lbs
- Spearfish – known as an aggressive fish that weights between 20 – 160 lbs
- Dog Tooth Tuna – Found close to the reefs, its weight is 20 – 230 lbs and found all over the year
- Skipjack Tuna – one of the strongest fighting fish. Weights 5 – 45 lbs
- Baracuda – Is an aggressive fast predator. Its sharp teeth works like scissors.
Bone Fishing
The shallow water fish of the region are said to be the pound-for-pound best fighters of all fish. These are called bonefish, and their species include tarpon, permit, pompano, wahoo, and the famous barracuda. Bonefish can be caught from the beach or from a small boat in many of the shallow waters of the Seychelles.
Reef Fishing
The most common fish in these areas are the grouper, mutton snapper, yellowtail snapper, and jack crevalle.
Sportfishing & Game Fishing
Deep sea and game fishermen will enjoy the plentiful populations of billfish, marlin, wahoo, kingfish, swordfish, yellowfin tuna and sailfish. There are many varieties of these deep water fish just off the shores where the sea floor drops down, so fishing can take place as close to a quarter of a mile from the main land
